Good morning everyone!
Allow me to share my frustrations w/ you. Can someone please tell me why people favor using hand sanitizer over washing their hands? If I read one more article comparing/contrasting hand sanitizer and hand washing, I'm going to LOSE IT!!!
Therefore, allow me to put an end to all the discrepancy that surrounds this topic. 'Scrubbing your hands for 15 to 20 seconds is BETTER than using hand sanitizer'. I repeat 'Scrubbing your hands for 15 to 20 seconds is BETTER than using hand sanitizer'. Why is it better you may ask? I'll tell you why...b/c it is!!! lol. According to the CDC, hand sanitizer is the next best thing if neither soap and water nor alcohol-based products are available.
I know this may come as a slight disappointment to all my hand sanitizer lovers but the truth hurts. But allow me to shed some knowledge... Hand sanitizer works on contact, meaning it's only effective on the parts of your hands that it touches. That means if you miss a spot between your fingers, there could still be viruses or bacteria in that place. Since we live in a world where approx 80 percent of all infections get spread by hands, I think that clean hands should be a priority. What's the best method in fighting bacteria? Hand Washing!!! Don't get me wrong, you can still use hand sanitizer (alcohol-based of course) but why settle working w/ the second best when you can work w/ the best. That's just my opinion.
The moral of the story is: Wash your hands! It's the smarter and safer thing to do.
i always say that but noone believes me,
ReplyDeleteand also some people say that hand sanitizer it bad for you,
its just the alcohol denaturing the proteins on your hands, but is prolonged use bad?
There is no evidence that prolonged use is necessarily bad but nevertheless the rule of thumb is that you have to wash your hands after you've applied hand sanitizer 3 times. Therefore, I just say wash your hands! I mean you're going to do it anyway, lol.
