A New Beginning...

"God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement." -Marcus Garvey-

Ever since I was 5 years old, I wanted to be a doctor. As I sit and I reminisce on the past, I recall playing w/ my mother's stethoscope and attempting to take my father's B/P and apical pulse w/out any knowledge of what I was doing. But like every child at that age, I was curious. I had a strong curiosity for many things such as art, automobiles, etc. but none of them were as strong as my curiosity towards medicine. I used to love watching Doogie Howser, M.D., which was, a televison show starring Neil Patrick Harris as a brilliant doctor who also faces the problems of being a normal teenager. In addition, I enjoyed looking through my mom's medical books and reading/coloring in my Grey's anatomy book. As I grew older, I continued reading medical-related books and watching medical related programs; Also, I got involved in the Future Med Club which was a club for students who were interested in the medical field. It was in partnership w/ Nova Southeastern University. In addition, I interned at Broward General Medical Center for 2 years working in different units exposing myself to all kinds of neat things. Wait! It didn't stop there, lol. In college, I got involved in AMSA (American Medical Student Association), Pre-Professional Club and I continued interning at the hospital. Currently, I'm going on my senior year at FAU (Pre-Med Major...go figure, right? lol) and I'm loving it. It's crazy how 16 years ago I had this dream of being a doctor and now I'm living it. It is indeed a dream come true to study something that I truly love. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to get this far and I ask that he continues to guide me on my path towards success and to use me as an instrument of his works so that I can help others.

With that being said, Welcome To My Life! The Life Of A Med Setter.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and I look forward to sharing my experiences w/ you. Peace, Love, and God Bless. This is 'thedoc' and I'm signing out. 1.
